One Step A La Vez has a clear mission to serve teens in the Santa Clara River Valley.  We discovered early in this work that in order to truly support teens you must connect to, support and build up the whole community. 

Building the Network of Support
One Step A La Vez began offering classes and support groups for parents and the larger community.  The youth identified a need for more resources and information to be available in Spanish for their parents.  Through community partnerships One Step A La Vez  began offering both the space and free childcare for various community programs and classes in the center during times when the youth were not using it.

• Apoyo Para Sobrevivientes: Spanish speaking support group for survivors of domestic violence
• Estrés Y Bienestar: Wellness class focusing on tools for managing stress
• ​Triple P Parenting Classes

In 2018 One Step A La Vez hosted the school board candidate panel, facilitated and led by youth members.  We plan to continue this practice of inviting their elected and candidates for both city council and school board to the center during election season.
